My current work focuses on how technology is changing the way we perceive the world, through our media systems and through our social networks. It's a big deal, and I don't think we have a decent handle on how it's affecting us as a species.
I lived in Cambodia for most of my 20's, and started a project there to help with post-civil war reconstruction. We rebuilt an agricultural system used by six thousand small farmers. I learned a lot about what it takes to motivate people to care about others; Not a single supporter began with a personal connection to those they decided to help. We raised over a million dollars for this tiny community in the rural countryside, and eventually received recognition and funding from the UN,
